I want a voice assistant that can set timers for me and search the internet maybe play music from an app I select. I only ever use it when I am cooking something and don’t have my hands free to do those things.

Your options for phones come down to linux phones (which I haven’t heard great things about) and pixels ironically.

Apple phones make a similar number of calls to google services as android phones simply because of how much google runs.

I think a lot of the loss of civility comes from the fact that lemmy is just so left leaning. I don’t feel the need hear to defend the dems because I know that 90% of the users here understand that the dems are in fact at least marginally better than the other choice. IRL I run dem apologia on occasion because I might not like what they are doing but at least they pretend to care.

I don’t know if it was managed by a PR company or what but he really did “retire” at the absolute perfect time to still continue to exist as a positive image to most of the people who used to watch him. I think if he stuck around even a year longer the drama cycle would have hit him hard.
