  • Did you read the whole thing? He also accused wealthy liberals of financing Tesla protests including two that are dead, one for about 5 years. When one of those people told him he was full of it, he replied with:

Musk replied, “Describe your favorite island vacation,” baselessly implying that Hoffman had visited the Caribbean private island of the late sex trafficker and pedophile Jeffrey Epstein.

I don’t know if I would all this a melt down, but it’s not that far short of it.

Btw, Musk should be cautious with this kind of accusation these days considering that his buddy Donnie was a very good friend of Epstein.

  • There’s nothing stopping people of influence (the wealthy, social media influencers, etc.) from endorsing a candidate on their own.

Nice straw-man. That isn’t what they said at all. They said nothing about endorsements. They are talking about publicly funding elections in influencers. Since you brought it up though, free speech can and is limited when there is a compelling argument that the speech in question is harmful to the public good. Disallowing social media influencers from promoting candidates would no more violate free speech rights than banning churches from doing so does.

  • So, when your account is banned on Reddit, does that remove all your posts? Because that would be cool. I left Reddit back in mid 2023 and came to Lemmy. I tried to delete all my old posts there, but they wouldn’t let me. I tried editing them and they reverted back to their original form. When I deleted them, they appeared to be deleted while I was logged in, but if I logged into another account the posts were still there. If getting a ban will get them deleted finally, then that would be well worth paying that cesspool a visit for a while.

  • “And they just got out of the car with the guns in their hands and say, turn off the car, give me the keys, open the window, you know,” Machado said. “Everything was really fast.”

Machado said the officers told him the name of a man for whom they said they had a deportation order, and who had purportedly given Machado’s home address. He said he offered to show his Virginia driver’s license—a Real ID requiring proof of lawful status to acquire—but “they didn’t ask for any ID.”

“I was telling the officer, if I can give him ID, but he said just keep my hands up, not moving,” Machado told Quiñonez. “After that, he told me to get out of the car and put the handcuffs on me. And then he went to me and said how did I get into this country and if I was waiting for a court date or if I have any case. And I told him I was an American citizen, and he looked at his other partner like, you know, smiling, like saying, can you believe this guy? Because he asked the other guy, ‘Do you believe him?’”

Congratulations, sir. You have successfully avoided being beaten or shot by ICE officers because you kept calm and followed instructions. Now let your mind wander to how the scenario will play out when they pull over your teenage son or daughter. Will your child stay calm? Or will they be terrified and panic and do something that gives the officers the excuse they need to beat them bloody or even kill them?

You voted for hate. You got it.
