Theaters need to renegotiate their screening contracts. First couple weeks when most people see a movie most revenue goes to the filmmakers. So they use concessions to make up the difference. And once they can profit from the tickets fewer people are going so they need to get higher price for the showing to profit.
Honestly, if wages had kept up with costs I don’t think we’d care as much.
