Companies led by BYD, Saic Motor’s MG and Chery Automobile captured a record 7.4 per cent of all passenger-car sales across Europe, according to researcher Dataforce, and surpassed South Korean carmakers such as Kia for the first time.
Is this headline really poorly worded or am I just stupid? After reading the article I know what they are trying to say but even after that reading it makes it sound like the country of china beat the european continent or the EU in EV/hybrid sales. Not what it’s trying to say which is: ‘chinese car manufacturers “blow past” previous EV, hybrid car sales record in europe’.
I’m with you on the poorly worded headline. I couldn’t parse that sentence either
7.4 per cent of all passenger-car sales across Europe …
Which companies sold the 92.6 per cent of cars?
Oh, wait, cHiNeSe CaRs ArE sO cHeAp, right?
