Which lemmy user do you recommend following to stay updated on certain news topics? (the person in question can be from any community here on lemmy)
Following users is not even implemented in Lemmy?
And besides, isn’t the entire idea of a community on Lemmy to not depend on a single user?
So the answer imho is !europe@feddit.org 😅
You’re right; the question wasn’t meant to limit ourselves to a single user, but to expand our scope from just feddit to the entire lemmy so we dont become echo chamber. This question is meant more as a appreciation post from/for the lemmy users.
but to expand our scope from just feddit
do you know every user - no matter what instance they use - can write in that subreddit? Most of the posts in my timeline are not from feddit.org - maybe follow some other communities as well?

Lemmy is (like reddit) community based. You might be interested in mastodon users though. You can specifically follow useres and read (and appreciate) their accounts.
By the way, I appreciate you being here!
That’s how Substack works, not Lemmy, following by user. Indy journalists have a lot of Substacks. Robert Reich and Heather Cox Richardson write regular essays as well.
Diversification is key, I believe you want to avoid being beholden to a single last outlet. Get ya righty news from Reddit, the lefty from lemmy, balk at how they are both ridiculous, and probably find some of the established publications and either budget a subscription or pass everything though an archival service to bypass the paywall.
A little bit of everything is key
Follow me because I do nothing but shitpost. You’ll be the most (misinformed) person you know. Not only will you not learn anything, but reading my posts have been proven to actually lower peoples’ iq
If you want to stay up to date on all things related to china, you can’t go wrong with Hotznplotzn. I should also mention Sunshine, who is a moderator in the buy european community—it can really help people looking to replace american products with european alternatives.
