Seeing this understanding evolve over the early course of the pandemic, having shut down my office for 15 months, I reopened once I had a multi-stage HEPA filter in every room. I also consulted on the purchase of, and currently maintain the air filters at a local dance space. And because PM2.5s have their own disease inducing effects, I have air filtration at home and in the car.

That diy option uses a furnace filter, which probably does as well as …… a furnace filter. It should help clear larger particles from the air, like smoke, soot, dust
It is NOT a hepa filter and not useful in the context of this thread about filtering pathogens
Yeah, the original plans I have call for using a MERV 20 filter (if I recall correctly), but otherwise it’s the same.
