Billionaire Andrej Babis’s ANO party was on track to win the Czech Republic’s parliamentary election on Saturday, raising the prospect of a government that would boost Europe’s populist, anti-immigration camp and reduce support for Ukraine.

indoctrination from “conservative” media is in my opinion the most important tool they have.

What is ‘conservative’ media? This indoctrination comes from traditional media as well as on Tiktok, Facebook & al. And in all countries, although in different forms and to varying devrees. In China and Russia, indoctrination is stronger than in countries with a higher developed democracy.

I personally think the distinction between ‘social politics’ and conservativism is not useful here. These are just labels imo to sow division, creating an environment of ‘us versus them’ to undrrmine people’s unity.

Well… Let’s ask who owns these things. Everything (or many for traditional) you mentioned is owned by billionaires. And after they got acquired they often drifted to a less progressive stance in their reporting. And I don’t know why you bring China and Russia into the discussion, we were talking about democracies, of course full blown dictatorships have stronger indoctrination. That’s necessary by design or they couldn’t control the population.

And while I agree that it’s good to leave out the labels for discussing it with those who consume aforementioned media in order to convince them, I abhor the thought of this successful attack on words and their meaning by those assholes. Words have meaning, goddammit! And I will call a socialist policy socialist, as long as it fits that definition. And yes, “conservative” is the wrong word. They choose it for themselves, but they don’t conserve anything, they regress.
