A new digital ID scheme will help combat illegal working while making it easier for the vast majority of people to use vital government services. Digital ID will be mandatory for Right to Work checks by the end of the Parliament.
If only we already had physical identification that proves we have the right to work. We could call it a pass-document! Then we don’t need to tie it to your phone which is much more likely to be stolen. /S

I’ve been trying to avoid engaging with politics on lemmy but every time I learn about something good Labour’s done (renter’s rights, recycling changes) they announce something stupid to compensate (mandatory age verification (edit: I meant that they won’t budge on it, the Tories introduced it), this and whatever the hell “AI” nonsense they’re doing).
