And this is why Democrats fail on messaging. They don’t think they will win so they don’t even try.
Let’s say every Democrat congressperson is calling for impeachment, all the time. What this does is make Trump constantly be contextualized as impeachable. At first the GOP will have the messaging upper hand, and probably celebrate it as making it easier to undermine the concept of impeachment.
But as Trump continues to pull further into fascist territory, the public will still have to at least think, “huh is this impeachable?”. The left also will feel emboldened if there are some representatives actually representing us, sane people who remember that subtle historical aberration we call [checks notes] World War II. It’s an Overton window anchor that may eventually tear the hull out of Trump’s fascist yacht as it tries to pull us away from shore.
The GOP used and uses this technique all the time, repeating in their lies and wedge issues, because propaganda works. It’s be nice if it was used for truth and good and not just lies and evil.
And sure, it may not work. But it’s something. It’s a reminder that is invaluable to the large section of goldfish brain public who can’t remember fascism isn’t normal. And the GOP understands something Democrats don’t, which is you miss all the swings you don’t take - if it doesn’t work, just try again. Instead, Democratic leaders are so confident they’ll fail it’s a self-fulfilling prophecy.
You know that every time he beats an attempt to impeach him, it just gives his base more faith in his ability to dodge bullets, right? They see it as a sign that the charges against him were bogus. Otherwise, it would have worked, right? He basically said as much on the campaign trail, and his followers ate it up. It reinforces the “hoax” narrative that he likes to hide behind.
So, why would Democrats keep giving him wins like that, when they know that’s all that’s going to happen?
Dems used that one up in Trump’s first term.
If you don’t punish bullies, they will push boundaries even further. They’re just clearing the way when he walks up to them.
Why does not one get this?! Was I the only one bullied with in school? Like, actual ass-beating violence?! The only way to stand is up in their grill.

The lead pig literally told me if I didn’t give up my 5th Amendment right to be silent, he’d get a warrant, for, uh, something. Told him to *fucking go for it", and don’t come back without it. Shut my fucking mouth except to say, “No threats were exchanged. You are not needed here.”
Guess what? They fucking left.
And I had my hand on my Colt .45 the whole time, out of view, AR-15 leaning on my desk in plain view. See how nice they are when we are armed? You suburban white boys need to get a fucking clue.
This is not to be taken as a simple “get strapped” call. Gun safety and proficiency takes time and money and effort. But FFS, if you can manage it, there’s work to do.
