I’m not a fan of early access in general but this is one of the cases where it’s done right IMO so let me add some context and corrections:

Supergiant isn’t that big so outsourcing a bit of testing to community isn’t that egregious. Larian did this kind of early access for Baldur’s Gate 3 for similar reasons and with similar results. Studios of this size are in an awkward spot where they don’t have AAA publisher money so they rely on their hard earned reputation.

There was no early access on consoles, it’s strictly Steam/EGS thing even though Sony and Microsoft have similar programs („game preview” etc). Nintendo doesn’t allow early access kind of content on their platform but that’s a moot point.

Supergiant is very upfront about this not being complete game because they don’t want latter parts to be spoiled. They use early access to fine tune gameplay mechanics and based on first game they’re very good at utilising this feedback. When I was younger and had more time I enjoyed participating in beta tests because those games were not figured out yet and could be broken in amusing ways. My guess this combined with Hades being a roguelite makes people okay with giving them money for EA.

So, how is the game finished for consoles, if it was sold before the game was finished? Just because they didn’t call the console releases EA doesn’t mean the game was done. I saw no such warnings that the game wasn’t complete on any console store. How is that upfront?

I’m fairly sure you haven’t seen the warning on console store because this game isn’t sold as an early access title on consoles.

Exactly my point. The game is in early access, the console versions weren’t somehow magically finished while the PC version isn’t. Which means it was being sold feature incomplete on consoles without notice.

Literally, your post says 1.0 coming to consoles. They were selling an incomplete game on consoles and didn’t tell anyone on those stores. That’s fraud.

So as I was saying, I find it surprising a company run by ex journalists are keen to sell their game fraudulently. And this is their what, their fifth game, yet they needed to sell this one unfinished? What are these people doing with their money that they can’t fund their own games to completion at this point, and why are they committing open fraud on console stores?

They were not selling Hades II early access on consoles, period, you’re getting angry over your own misinterpretation of post title.

But the game is in early access. You’re telling me the game was magically feature-complete on consoles before hitting 1.0? So you are admitting they lied about the condition of the console versions before they were complete, since it is very much on the same version number as the early access PC version. Coolcool, they are fraudsters who released the exact same early access game on consoles as they did on PC, but didn’t alert anyone to that fact on those console stores. Thanks for confirming.

When did I say it was feature complete on consoles? If you go to eShop it’s just a preorder, nobody is misleading anybody.

So the only place it was ever for sale was PC? Well, that does change things then.
