Dwight was a great character, but he only really works as a foil. He’s incredibly one dimensional and there’s no way he could carry a show. The best supporting characters are the ones you want more of, but getting more of them only reveals why they were supporting characters to begin with. Dwight could be a poster child for ‘less is more’.
I would’ve liked to see. I like the farm episode and no reason he can’t have characters opposite him in it.
I guess I just never got the hate for that episode or premise.
That said, the paper is not bad by middle of the season. Hopefully keeps trending up.
Wait, you’re telling me an actor thinks that a show starring himself would become a huge hit?! Unheard of!!!
I like Dwight, but his character needed Jim and Michael to thrive.

Rainn Wilson seems like such a tool. Somebody is bitter they weren’t asked to be in The Paper.
gareth would have been a better choice than dwight for a spinoff but that was pretty much already just detectorists.

I actually watched his show. I forget the name. He played a detective or something? And to be clear, I like Rainn Wilson. The show was completely forgettable and I don’t even remember the name. In for Season 2 if they wanna make one though!
So to the point made by others, he can’t carry a show, and his fans aren’t enough to sell a network on him.
