Florida’s gun laws have always been among the loosest in the nation, but after the Parkland School Shooting, convicted criminal Governor Rick Scott and the Florida Republican-dominated legislature quickly passed new gun laws within 30 days of the shooting. They added Red Flag laws, and raised the gun ownership age to 21.
It was the only time I’ve seen Republicans enthusiastically support gun restrictions, and they worked. The Red Flag laws kept many guns out of the hands of many troubled people, and raising the age made it more difficult for younger school age teens to get guns. If a 17 yo asks his 18 yo buddy to get him a gun, he’ll probably be successful. If he asks a 21 yo, he’s likely to be told to get lost. There were no more school shootings in Florida.
Then convicted criminal Rick Scott became a Senator, and every time gun control would come up, instead of talking about his success (one of his few as governor), he tried to run from it, and would always give a canned answer that he didn’t want to restrict the 2nd Amendment. What a coward.
Then DeSatan took over, and like all of these Neanderthal PedoCons, he is far more concerned with trolling and owning the libs, than governing responsibly, so he lowered the age of gun ownership to 18. He also repealed the law requiring a class to receive a concealed carry permit. Anyone can carry a gun. Now an 18 yo can walk into a gun shop, buy a gun, load it, stick it in his waistband, and walk out.
Soon after these new laws (or lack thereof), there was a murder in which an angry 15 yo was able to get a gun from an 18 yo and kill someone. Now we have teens shooting at each other all over Florida.
