The U.S. Capitol Police led the operation, joined by 600 officers representing nearly 20 agencies — including the Secret Service and local police and sheriff’s departments — in one of the largest law enforcement training drills in the country. The goal was to sharpen coordination among the many agencies that must work side by side in Washington, a push shaped by the glaring security breakdowns of the Jan. 6, 2021, attack on the Capitol.
With 2025 on track to bring more threats against members of Congress than any year in history, law enforcement agencies are bracing for a volatile era defined by surging political violence, swelling protest movements and a more muscular federal role in local communities.
This article is written by a cop and sounds like it’s bootlicking cops. AP can do better.
ACAB. If cops are allowed to put up emotional titles and distort information, so too can we put up emotional titles to rectify it.
Correction of article and title:
In Trump’s fascist terror, 600 pigs train to harass normal people, as criticism of terrorist lawkillers is rightfully rising
And just for good measure, here’s a corrected version, with shorter, snazzier title, and without the overt emotional stuff, but still factually way more correct. Shorter sentences, so those fascists can read it too.
In Trump’s fascist terror, 600 repressive cops drill their dictatorship. Why? Because all of us dare criticise their disorderly laws.
And to add my input:
But you can do something. Go into anonymity and organise. Use a VPN, watch your browser. Don’t use phones to organise protests, don’t take them there. Hide anything they may identify you with from a crowd.
Protest in masses. Accuse one fascist of not being orderly enough, and tell another that the other fascist is disobeying him. Let them strike each other. Strike in the night and retreat swiftly.
Shoot down their drones. Destroy their cameras. Organise concerts, and recruit fellow people with good music. Get arms. They want darkness: they can receive it, in our way.
Excellent comment, yeah I felt I had to share this article because the underlying story (the feds are buying off all the local cops they can, so state and local cops probably won’t ever be coming to our rescue and many will probably try to arrest their mayors/governors if things completely break down) seems important to me, but yeah the whole reverant normalizing tone of it is horrifying given the moment we’re living in
