Biggest issue for me is that I think balancing wasd is going to be a nightmare and in attempt to make the game more accessible to new players will force old players to relearn the game.
Imo they should keep it always weaker than clicking so players can get introduced to the game easier but if they want to climb really high they should learn clicking.
Yeah I’m glad they are acknowledging balance concerns but I don’t see how they can avoid them. They pointed out how big it is for orb walking, but being able to basically instantly change direction is also going to be huge for dodging skill shots. And if they add in some sort of lock out on it, it will feel like you are lagging. Maybe they could add turn speed and acceleration or something, but that would be strange for only one move mode. Also, it could be ignored with scripts assuming you can swap between modes.
We don’t want anyone to feel they need to change control schemes to be competitive.
This sounds very similar to mouse & keyboard vs controller for FPSes. So are they going to hobble WASD or are they going to add auto aim to the old methods? Because all else equal, WASD seems clearly superior, allowing you to use your mouse only for aiming abilities.
