Honestly, Trevor Noah ruined the show. I like him as a person, but he took the show in the wrong direction.
The daily show had such a strong millennial audience and they targeted gen z and alpha so hard. I don’t know why they didn’t keep the daily shows format as close as possible and just have a new one for them right before or after
And of course, thanks to this ridiculous merger, that means Stewart’s contract is at risk of not being renewed.
Because anything less than happily fellating this president is unacceptable to these free-speech hating, right wing profit-mongering fascist sleezebags.
For context John Stewart left the show back in 2015 (or 10 years ago) and only recently started hosting again.
He hosts one day a week. But it’s great to see him back.
If they let some or all of them go, I foresee a pretty popular podcast starting up not long after. I feel they could find funding pretty quickly.
Honestly haven’t touched the show since Trevor Noah made kissy-faces with Tomi Lauri.
I just can’t do another “Rally To Restore Sanity”. It was a lifeline during the Bush Years, when every TV station and half the internet was gaslighting Americans into believing Arabs were subhuman and Terri Schiavo was on the road to recovery. But we’re so far pasted putting a laugh track over a genocide. Stewart’s brand of liberalism is too weak and too accommodating to the “moderate” wing of the conservative movement.
He produced a bunch of mid-10s comedy talent. But after that…
The show is very different from when you last watched it, and Stewart is very different from when he was the full-time host. He’s far less accommodating of moderates. I recommend watching some of his Monday shows and see if your opinion changes. You really can’t judge the current iteration of the show based on when it had a totally different host and format.
