As far as I can tell, Turkey, Ukraine, Russia/Iran, … are creating the best systems.

Sure, US & China might make more advanced ones, but mass production requires simplicity (or tons of money) and all parties supplying either side in Ukraine have learned what parts need development and can be made cheaper.
