I’m trying to set up a Windows system so that all multiple logins are tied to the same local user. I want it to be multiple logins so nobody has to share a password and it needs to be effectively the same user so that saved items are easy to find. Other than using GPOs to remap things like documents to be a logcal user at login does anyone know a clean way to go about this? A lead hand signs into the system at the beginning of a shift and then other people use the computer to operate a connected device. So if they save a file another person could have logged in next time they try to open it and our users aren’t always the smartest and the more uniform it is for them the better.

It’s not exactly clear what the main goal is here and it sounds like a bad idea on first glance after reading your last paragraph. But it sounds like you might be looking for mandatory profiles.

    https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/client-management/client-tools/mandatory-user-profile

But now that I read it again I think you might be conflating users/profiles with sessions. In which case no, this is neither possible nor a good idea. But it still might be okay with mandatory profiles if the device and app works the same from multiple sessions.

Anyway, you might get better answers if you state the full problem, including details on software and device, not just your proposed solution.

I don’t think this is possible and even if it was it wouldn’t make sense to do

What you want is a shared folder between multiple users. It can be on a network share or just a folder you create and set permissions on.

OK, what are you actually try to achieve? Either they are one user, or they are different users. What for do you think you need them united, and what for do you need them separated?

Just tape the login to each station monitor.

    Login: station1 Password: 123

    Login: station2 Password: 123

Nobody sharing a password is crazy they should all share the same password. Either way this whole operation sounds insane. Good luck bro

Why do they need separate accounts? Either have the lead sign it in and leave it unlocked, or set a simple password they can all use to unlock it.

Do they need to be separate logins if they are to access the same files and connected device(s)?

Just a Machine01 account with access to a shared drive or OneDrive for backup would do it wouldn’t it?

If the machine is only used locally then limit it’s access to the internet so people have to actually login to access/download anything and treat it as part of the equipment it’s attached to.
