I’m constantly surprised and disappointed this hasn’t happened.
In France, we take to the streets for the smallest issue (or so they say), and the world mocks us. Meanwhile the gun crazy crowd in the US only ever uses their god given arms to gun down their neighbours and schoolmates. Great job!

France is much smaller; USA is more comparable to the entirety of the EU.

Millions of people are protesting often, but the BBC isn’t reporting about it on the front page.

We have “national” protests every few months, millions of people around the country.

There are big problems organizing here, USA is a surveillance state and if you are an organizing party (like let’s say the Greens for one example), they are watching.

The USA so far has been “too big to fail”, but that won’t last forever

I like to show my students the clip of French firefighters protesting and how they’re making police pull back. There’s a lesson in there about teamwork and being prepared.

In France, we take to the streets for the smallest issue (or so they say), and the world mocks us.

We don’t mock you guys for that. There’s plenty other things to use for mocking the French. We’re secretly in awe of the liberal application of the guillotine in a class struggle.

The world mocks you only as standard preset punchlines. Its more upholding tradition than actually funny or real.

For rioting over small shit, I assure you you have our utmost respect.

Eh, that little shit who get his head bashed in didn’t. But he had a minute of silence at the Assemblée Nationale. That is more worrying that hypothetical guns.

As much as i hate nazis, he was a stupid kid tbh. I spent the whole week commenting about him being an inbred, but looking back, the real guilty ones are those TV cunts who turned his dead into a political shitshow. It was a sacrifice, plain and simple. He was a pawn. The whole thing is just sad.

Sure sure he was manipulated, instrumentalized, whatever. Like Derek in American History X. But this ain’t the US. He was in Lyon, who venerates Jean Moulin, who judged Klaus Barbie. He had every opportunity for an education that would tell him what a fucking idiot he was being. He was a pawn, sure. But at some point it’s just natural selection. Fuck him. And fuck all who made him.

Pretty sure you wouldn’t use firearms against your government if you had them either.

That’s the thing right. I dunno. I haven’t been given the option. And so I ain’t running my mouth about it, because I know I don’t know.

I ain’t spending my days shooting at the range and waving flags and talking about my right to bear arms and how I’ll fuck up anyone who dares threaten my freedom, am I? I just wish those people would actually do what they always talk about. See what happens. Maybe realise they really do have the power.
Our peasants stormed a military garrison inside a castle with whatever they had to go get those weapons to start a revolution. But apparently for the US, eating cake is the preferred option. Seems weird to me.
