I know, I feel bad. One of the favorite things I used to say back in the frumpin’ day was “Dude, it’s the internet, you can cuss here”.
Then slowly over the years, site after site after site after site after site started implementing rules against profanity. Not even in a somewhat sane, reasonable, or consistent way either. Which made it all the worse.
And now, annoying as it is for me personally, I just bite my t0%#$#gue and move on.
Still find it incredibly ridiculous that you can get banned from a certain R-word site for using the R-word, but calling someone or referring to them as a “cocksucker” is apparently perfectly acceptable.
This is the internet we arnt doctors and the dsm5 can’t suck a fat retarded cock.
Got banned by the auto mod on a sub because I said the word retardant.
The topic was about fucking asbestos. A FIRE RETARDANT MATERIAL.
When I asked wires band I was told because I used the word retarded and it’s no longer medically accepted word per the DSM-5. Ever since then I’ve basically considered the DSM-5 to be the worst f****** thing in the world f*** that piece of s*** f*** people f*** Reddit.
I do wish I could make the voice to text stop censoring words but I’ve given up on that too. So I just accept that if I want to use voice to text then my f****** words are going to be f****** censored. At least it uses the correct number of asterisks so you know what I’m saying. It’s not shortened or randomly garbled up which to me is even worse.
Interesting how similar my case was. I picked up a 72 hour ban from that site for using the word “retard” in the context of providing advice on how to retard (aka slow) the growth of mold.
I remember an MMO that had a profanity filter bleeping out parts of words with asterisks. I was so confused and frustrated why I couldn’t talk to other players about ****ysing whatever it was that needed ****ysis.
Yeah, they had a mechanic called analysing, their own filter made it impossible to talk a out and 13 year old me didn’t understand why it was censored. Talk about sane and reasonable.
