Given such news, isn’t it crazy that most Europeans in 2026 still largely rely on US digital services?

I have so much respect for Macron and France. I like people who refuse to bend over and spread their cheeks.

Let’s support France with building MS office alternative.

Anyone wishing to support France and Europe can start with changing their search engine from google / duckduckgo to Qwant.

          Qwant is France based .

If you’re using android change your DNS to Quad9.

Haven’t used iOS for a while so not sure if it can be done? Please feel free to comment on how to do it

Yes, it can and should be done! Unfortunately, it has to be done on a per-Wi-Fi basis, so you need to set it up for every Wi-Fi network separately, but it’s still worth doing for your home/work Wi-Fi.
Go to Settings > Wi-Fi > tap on the ‘i’ icon on the right of the Wi-Fi name > scroll down to ‘Configure DNS’ > select ‘Manual’ > tap on ‘Add server’ > enter 86.54.11.13 and 86.54.11.213 for DNS4EU with ad and malware filtering, or enter any other IPs you want to use. I personally use these two and they work very well.

Thanks. Also if you know people who migrated from developing countries then ask them to use European tech. I have noticed that akk my Indian and filipino colleagues heavily use american Tech. Their brain only tells them to use google, Facebook, instagram

There are smaller infrastructure providers in Europe, but nothing that even comes close to the scale of Amazon or Google.

Biggest effort I see are from French and Swiss providers. Check out Chatons for a list of Europe (mostly France and Belgium) based privacy-respecting cloud service providers.

Isn’t it crazy that the west largely relies on China for manufacturing and Taiwain for advanced semi-conductors? I guess that depends on your stance on globalization.

why would one even want to go there though? You’d have to constantly be worried about being arrested without warrant and hauled to somewhere

We, millenials from the rest of the world, used to grow up thinking we’d move to USA to live there.

2025 - USA, not requiring visa up to 90 days, is not even on the travel list. Same status as some middle eastern countries.

Maybe all the people of Greenland should seek to get this (otherwise rather unimportant) badge of honor.

This really sucks for them, however, I think it would let me know that I’m on the right track to be on the hit-list of the most vile people on earth.

The decision has already had consequences, says von Hodenber: “Two important financial partners have withdrawn their support in the last month.

Who are they? Seems like their support was lip service.
