If churches get taxed then they are gonna need representation in the government.

Or have we done away with the “no taxation without representation” thing, too ?

I’m guessing you just woke up from a long nap. The church definitely has representation in the US government.

They do, it’s called a lobbyist and every politician is owned by some business interest or another

“You can’t tax companies because that would be like double taxing the people”

Then the companies go on to legally lobby politicians when people have a max donation of 10k, and companies can now pretty much “donate” unlimited amounts.

…is that not double(+) representation with singular taxation?

Religion really isn’t expressed or represented in the government though.

Trump and the current administration do nothing BUT break the 1st, 2nd,(why is “in God we Trust” on the currency if we’re obedient to Him?) 5th, 6th, (Trump’s an expert on breaking this one) 7th, 8th,(and HOW!) 9th and 10th (Greenland anyone?) commandments.

The tax exemptions were written to keep religion in it’s own lane as when religion enters government, the government then also enters into religion and inevitably it corrupts it, and that was the fear.

Religion isn’t the corrupting influence… politics is.

The thing is are they not all have prayer gatherings and laying hands on trump and speaking tongues.

I think what it boils down to is if it’s the wrong religion not their nice one that likes Donald then they’re coming after the tax exempt status.

I wholeheartedly agree religion should stick to its own lane and remain the emotional support for the people that believe in it.

I doubt that. Trump couldn’t get his ass out of bed early enough to show up at any prayer breakfast. They are early morning before government opens for the day. He’s probably still asleep, as most nights he’s up until the wee hours posting on Truth Social.

He’s famously non-religious, and just wears any piety like a cheap costume.

Dude was on TV for years, so he knows how to shuck and jive and play the part for the rubes.

Now here’s a guy that knows nothing about the state of Utah. Or virtually all of the South I guess.
