I honestly thought the rise of the fascist regime would be more competent and subtle than this. It’s like they’re not even trying because they know their tentacles go so deep into the system that their rise to power is inevitable at this point.
Authoritarian regimes select for loyalty over competence. Nazi Germany was a complete shit show and all the leaders were dangerously incompetent (with the possible exception of Goebbels).
