Duralex glasses are beautiful. They have clear “made in France” at the bottom. We bought a few colourful ones back to England when we visited France last year.
Oh man, so many childhood memories… they are the standard in every single school canteen and kids’ vacation center in France. Unbreakable and unchanged for generations.
So many traditions around checking your “age” at the bottom of the glass. Usually the “youngest” or “oldest” had to fetch the communal pitcher of water.
Truly BIFL if you enjoy their retro design.
Did you had the Duralex Empilable? I’m from Sweden and like in France we have the Duralex Empilable in all schools. I even think the lunch restaurant at my work have them.
I had to check the names on the website but YES OBVIOUSLY!
Also the Gigogne is pretty common too.
I had no idea of the names until I searched for Duralex and found their Swedish website which listed the different models they have. Then I recognized it directly. I don’t remember that I have seen Gigogne before.
I had to look where my glasses are from. I have Ikea (Swedish) glasses manufactured in Spain and Rosendahl (Danish) glasses manufactured in Turkey. I also have coffee cups from Rörstrand (Swedish brand but now owned by Fiskars (Finnish)) unfortunately they are manufactured in Indonesia.
So even if I don’t have Duralex I feel like I’m at least supporting European brands. However, if I have to buy new glasses I will consider Duralex. The Picardie 25 cl looks nice and has a good size.
bought a range from small to large some time last year. lightweight and sturdy, and quite beautiful if you like the bistro style. would buy again

I bought half a dozen of these years and years ago. I still have half a dozen of them.
They also make nice little glass mugs. Just saying.
