I enjoyed it for what it was, and while it is definitely camp at times - the pilot didn’t shy too far away from jump scares and gore. Definitely has the same feel as the modern It films.
Will definitely be keeping on top of it, that’s for sure.
I thought it was incredibly weird, it just left me with “what…?” in a not good way. Gonna give the next few episodes a watch but don’t have high hopes.
Excited to give it a spin. By the trailer, it looks on the money for being faithful to the book and the new movies. Kids are actually the right age, which they weren’t for the movies, not sure how that spins. But it seems to all fit.
And BTW, I liked the kids just a little older in the new movies. Makes more sense. King has a knack for nailing how kids really act and talk, but he always makes them a few years too young. Probably a generational thing. I’m GenX and have been stunned how “far behind” kids are today compared to where we were at. (That’s a good thing, means society and life is less challenging.) Maybe it’s the same for Boomers?
Welcome to another mediocre horror franchise.
You don’t need to watch it mate.
I’m free to have an opinion, and cynicism is the hallmark of my generation.
I actually liked Castle Rock. Being an anthology, you could always try the next season if you didn’t like the current one. I wish they’d just bring it back.
Yeah I tend to like anthologies a bit more for horror series, otherwise it can get pretty stale honestly.
I thought it was good! They plan on 3 seasons that cover the interludes from the book, which sounds reasonable to me. It’ll be nice to finally see something that isn’t the same base story rehashed!
Let’s see what the drop off score is in a few weeks.
