Religion has been on a steady decline by percentage of population in the US since the 70s. Christians declined from 91% in 1970 to 82% in 2000 to 74% in 2020, but the actual number of Christians overall increased from roughly 187 mil to 246 mil. However, non-religious rose from 5 to 20% in that same time frame (from 10.5 mil to 65 mil).
