These people have the sort of mind that keeps grasping at more and more money, even when they already have billions, with billions more flowing in. Yet they continue to manipulate government to get even more money that neither they, nor their descendants, can ever use, to the point of finally destroying the very system that made them wealthy. They are killing the goose that lays the golden eggs.

That level of compulsion has to be some sort of OCD/ Hoarding Syndrome. If people were compelled to collect billions of any other thing with such single-minded devotion, we’d be concerned for their mental health, but somehow we give them a pass because the item they are hoarding is money.
