    Used to live in a HMO, only way to live on apprenticeship wages really. Then when I moved up to normal minimum wage I started saving like £5-10k a year. I genuinely didn’t know what to do with it for years as reddit had convinced me that home ownership was impossible, guess I mostly saw it as if I lose my job it will keep me going for longer.

    Eventually my partner mentioned us buying a house and I realised I could do over a 10% deposit on my own.
