Heavy rains have prompted public health officials in Washington to warn residents about toilet rats, a rare plumbing nightmare that drives frantic calls to pest control experts.
That’s pretty unnerving. Where I live (Australia), we get snakes and frogs in the toilet during summer. Thankfully I’ve never had a snake in mine, just cute tree frogs. Though, having a frog jump into your crack is quite a shock.
Just to clairfy, I am here rather its heavy rains or not. The rains just scare me.
Wait how do the rats get into the sewer pipes?
Like this is something that’s bothered me about TMNT for a while.
I get that sewers are all interconnected and drain down to the treatment center. So it’s like…mostly sealed then, right?
They aren’t coming all the way up from the treatment center. I doubt they are flushing themselves in like it’s the ministry of magic.
Do they combine storm drains and sewage??

From the roof. Air vents are part of the sewer system in homes and will be exposed at the roof. Many times they aren’t protected in any way. I’ve had to fab some wire on mine since ground squirrels would occasionally wander into one and pop out of a toilet or shower drain.
It’s wet rat winter
