Developers of apps that use end-to-end encryption to protect private communications could be considered hostile actors in the UK.
As a sign of good will all politicians will make all of their texting conversations public starting today. That includes private and personal matters as well as all conversations with donors, party members and all government bodies and officials.
Right?
This has to be the standard response to these sorts of claims. I would love to see a Labour MP try to respond to this on Question Time for example.
Am I missing something in the thought process here? Surely removing encryption just makes the entire UK uniquely vulnerable to having their messages read not just by UK intelligence but anyone. It doesn’t make any sense.
it only makes citizens vulnerable, and who cares about those peasants?
“It is a reasonable assumption that this would be in the interests of a foreign state”
No, it isn’t. Unless that state has the best interests of UK citizens at heart, I guess.
Considering TOR was originally a CIA project, I wouldn’t be completely surprised if Signal was funded by a secret agency too.
Governments are so fucking stupid
It’s not stupid. It’s malicious.
