This sentence is translated from Chinese, so the wording may be suboptimal.

I’m ready to get loads of downvotes for posting this one.

    Absolutely.

A few years ago, there were two phrases being kicked around. Black Lives Matter, and All Lives Matter.

To many white people, All Lives Matter sounded like a positive message, but the black people understood it for what it really was: “Fuck your black lives.”

I heard a good way to call out that bullshit.

The next time the person says something about their particular god, say “All Gods Matter”. It throws them into a tizzy because how dare you. Yup, welcome to what it feels like.

「弱勢族群對偏見敏感。」 “for good reasons” is added to clarify intent.

You should not “correct” the post by pasting this into a translator.

      • 「弱勢族群對偏見敏感。」

Wow, the original sounds like something my mom would say to me. Feels so much worse.

The 族 feels really… idk it feels very insulting for some reason. Like you know as in the so-called “啃老族”, the 族 feels so… like it “others” you. Like, it uses other people’s failures as a reference point, like “see those losers are the [X]族, you don’t wanna be like them do you?”

Then anytime your parent wanna insult you, they throw you into that category of people. To make you feel bad because “you now part of the inferior group”, because your parents said so.

Lile that sounds so toxic you cannot even fix the phrase by adding “for good reasons”, I mean, its literally using 弱 “weak” as one of the characters.

Like parents always tell you to 堅強 or some shit, if a boy cries, you aren’t a 男子漢大丈夫,流汗不流淚 anymore, you are a “懦夫”, “弱者”. Showing expressions is not allowed. Emotions is weakness.

I mean of course I’d feel vulnerable and sensitive to insults. Because its literally an attack from within.

Like… there’s a power dynamic at play. The parent is always more powerful, so in this case, the child is literally 弱 “weak”. Of course their parents opinions are more sensitive to them.

Not only I have to handle bullying and racism, I also have to handle my own birthparents using toxic language against me. Attacked from both sides. What the hell.

  • 什么?

You mean like slurs and deogratory terms?

    I mean obviously.

You have no idea how often I got called “ching chong” while in the US.

Or how often I get called a “廢柴” by my parents.

I’m just so tired and broken.

Like, if I was like independent and rich , I could just ignore that like “fuck you I’m rich”, I can fuck over people who use those terms against me, or like… just ignore them, since wealth means I can afford protection against those threats anyways.

I probably agree, but I’m not quite sure what you mean. Do you mean that people who are in a disadvantaged group in a society are more sensitive to language that is biased against their group? So women notice (and can be offended) by phrases like “you throw like a girl” while men might not care, or even notice, that it’s sexist.

Or do you mean people in disadvantaged groups are, in general better at detecting bias in language? So, poor people are better at spotting politic bias in reporting?

I 100% agree with your point of view then, it seems very logical.

Let’s say I’m immune to mosquito bites. I wouldn’t even notice one or two buzzing about. But I’m very reactive to bites, and get itchiness that lasts for what feels like hours, so as soon as something buzzes nearby, I’m panicking.
